Days after registering the new BCCI constitution, the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has declared that fresh board elections will be held in about three months.
"We are looking at elections in about 90 days. We have given the date as September 20. There is no cause for any ambiguity," CoA chief Vinod Rai said at a media meet here on Monday. "The COA will leave the moment the new body takes over. There is a specific mandate that has been given to the CoA, rest assured we will not overstep it by a day," Rai added.
While the board seems to be getting closer to some sort of functional order after a long-drawn legal battle, it is learnt that some state associations are still objecting to some reforms approved by the apex court. Rai cited 'practical difficulties' on the part of the state associations in implementing the constitution in totality.
