The tabloids went into a frenzy when Priyanka bowed out of Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat at the last minute. While it was hinted that Priyanka's engagement with Nick Jonas was the reason for her exit from the film, whispers suugest that there is more to it than meets the eye.
An entertainment website reports that it may have been Salman's estranged ex-manager Reshma Shetty who convinced Priyanka to opt out of Bharat. Salman ended his nine-year-long professional relationship with Reshma last year, citing that he would like his family to manage his business arrangements. She is currently managing Priyanka.
"Team Reshma Shetty made her understand that the film no longer belonged to her 'league' with the addition of certain names to the cast. Considering PeeCee was all set to make her comeback into Hindi films with Bharat, the talent management agency didn't want her to falter," an insider revealed.
"The casting did not pan out as envisaged and Priyanka immediately called Ali to tell him about her concerns. The rest, as they say, is history," the source added.
Meanwhile, it looks like Salman is in no mood to forgive and forget. Recently, in an interview, he took a dig at Priyanka and said, "It was sweet of her to tell us five days before the shoot that she couldn't do Bharat."
Salman also revealed that Katrina Kaif, who has stepped in after Priyanka's exit, was always the original choice for Bharat. "But Priyanka called Ali and said she wanted to do Bharat, so we considered her," he said.
A remake of the Korean drama An Ode To My Father, Bharat also features Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Nora Fatehi in pivotal roles. The film is set to hit the screens on Eid 2019.
