The match which was dominated by left-arm spinners ended in a dramatic tie as Somerset folded out for 77 in the final innings on day two. While Somerset's Jack Leach picked 12 (5 & 7) wickets, his counterpart Keshav Maharaj scalped 11 (4 & 7). With one run needed to win and two wickets in the hand for the hosts, Dominic Bess was out stumped trying to play a big stroke. The number 11 batsman - Leach - perished attempting to go for the glory shot and ended up holing out in the deep.
22 wickets fell on the first day and Lancashire resumed day two on 7/2, with a deficit of 86 runs. On a dicey Taunton pitch Leach made a mockery of Lancashire's lower order and finished with figures - 26.5-9-74-7. Chasing a target of 78, Somerset lost six wickets in 13 overs with just 37 runs on the board, as Maharaj and Graham Onions hunted in pair. Maharaj kept applying pressure and was rewarded with a seven-fer in a thrilling encounter.
