The trending video of a policeman beating up a lady in a banking hall has dominated news headlines within the last 24 hours. In the video, as reported the woman, a hawker around Okponglo in Accra, was in the banking hall of Midland Savings and Loans to withdraw her ‘susu’ savings. The woman identified as Patience Sarfo, according to the report, had heard that the bank was facing possible liquidation and so she wanted to take all the money she had saved with them.
However, the financial institution failed to allow her to withdraw her money and called on the police officer who was on security duty in the banking hall to drive her away.
The lady, however, persisted and this led to the policeman beating her up mercilessly. The video has generated a lot of interest from Ghanaians with many condemning the police officer, Fredrick Amanor, for his conduct. The latest to add his voice to the matter is Dancehall star, Shatta Wale who has described the policeman's behaviour as 'unacceptable'. Picking a line from his 'Gringo' track, Shatta said "If you is a man beat a gyal that a bush...THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ."
