Players falsely banned from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in mid-June will be compensated with in-game currency, the developers at PUBG Corp. announced on Wednesday, calling it an unfortunate mistake in their efforts to police cheating in the game.
How many players were banned? Unknown. PUBG Corp. simply said “a number of players were improperly banned and were unable to access the game for a period of time.” They were banned by the game’s internal cheat detection logic.
The bannings occurred sometime during or shortly after a two-hour period on June 16, and the players were banned by “internal ban detection logic.”
“One of our highest priorities is working towards eliminating hackers and cheaters from PUBG,” PUBG Corp. wrote on the game’s Steam blog. “We apologize for anyone who missed out on game time due to this error and hope that this compensation helps make up for that lost time.”
