Rwanda President, Paul Kagame has voiced his displeasure at Arsenal’s recent poor performances across all competitions.
The Gunners were eliminated from the Uefa Europa League after a 2-1 aggregate loss to Atletico Madrid in Thursday’s semi-final fixture. Asides from ending their hopes for European glory this campaign, they will end the season with no silverware.
Also, Arsenal are set to miss the Uefa Champions League next season as they are currently placed sixth in the English Premier League with 57 points from 35 games. They remain the only club yet to win a point away from home in the English top-flight this year.
“My take on my beloved club Arsenal - a very good one at the game and a very good coach like Wenger, this should not have been the kind of ending of an era," Kagame tweeted.
"The coach is leaving and club trophy-less, it was long coming! I am still a committed fan going forward. Blame the owners.
“As I had said way back and just as a good observer, something fundamental needed to change at/about the club. But if anything changed, it was not the right one.
"All the best to all involved! We still need Arsenal to go back where it belongs- up there among the best in the game!"
