Bangladesh Women 89 in 39.5 overs (Panna Ghosh 20, Ayabonga Khaka 3-13, Raisibe Ntozakhe 3-16) lost the South Africa Women 90/1 in 17.1 overs (Laura Wolvaardt 37, Lizelle Lee 32) by 9 wickets
A splendid bowling performance, headlined by three-wicket hauls for Ayabonga Khaka and Raisibe Ntozakhe, helped South Africa Women bulldoze Bangladesh by nine wickets in Potchefstroom. The home team, thus, took a two-nil lead in the series, with three games still to play.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh found themselves in deep trouble in no time, with the openers - Sanjida Islam and Murshida Khatun - and number three Fargana Hoque, who had made a significant score in the last game, back in the hut by the sixth over.
Khaka had struck to send back all the three batters. The rest of the bowling attack soon took over to keep chipping away. Only Nigar Sultana and numbers 9 and 10, Panna Ghosh and Jahanara Alam, managed to get to double figures as Bangladesh were routed out for 89 inside 40 overs.
The result was a forgone conclusion, with the only point of interest in the chase being how much time South Africa would need to overhaul the low target. It took them 17 overs and one ball to knock off the runs, with a top score from Laura Wolvaardt (37*). Lizelle Lee (32) was the only wicket to fall for the hosts.
