Ryan Reynolds has left quite an impression on the production staff of “King of Masked Singer.”
The “Deadpool” star recently surprised the show’s audience as well as Korean television viewers when he appeared as “Unicorn” and sang “Tomorrow” from the musical “Annie.”
After the broadcast, producing-director Oh Noo Ri talked about how Ryan Reynolds came to appear on the show. She shared, “After we heard of his activities in Korea, we also heard that many programs had sent their hopes of working with him. I think the masked part of ‘King of Masked Singer’ had a lot to do with it. Since ‘Deadpool’ also has to do with wearing a mask, he ended up appearing on the show.”
The production company behind “Deadpool,” 20th Century Fox, is affiliated with FOX broadcasting company, which is one of the broadcasting stations that purchased the format rights to “King of Masked Singer.” The American version is currently slated to air in June. The show has been also reproduced in several Asian countries such as Thailand, China, and Vietnam. The fact that the two companies are affiliated may have been a factor in the actor’s appearance on the show.
On the show, it was revealed that Ryan Reynolds only had had one night and two days for Korean activities. However, that didn’t stop him from putting every effort into preparing for the show, and he shared, “I didn’t even tell my wife, Blake Lively.” On the actor’s performance, Oh Noo Ri commented, “He’s an accomplished star, but he was very sensible and so he was quite friendly. He also personally chose the song ‘Tomorrow’ as he wanted to perform a song that Koreans would know well. I think he’s an actor that had a lot of consideration for Koreans.”
The producing director also talked about the show’s efforts in casting and stated, “Since we’ve been doing the show for more than three years, we’ve been putting more thought into casting. We’re putting in a lot of effort to show the program’s charms as much as possible.”
