Samira Bawumia says the description of former President John Mahama's government as incompetent during the election campaigns in 2016 was not without a basis. She said her comments only reflected the situation as she saw it. “It was a fact,” she said to Bernard Avle on Accra-based Citi FM, Wednesday.
She, however, added that the incompetence tag wasn’t an attack on the person of Mr Mahama. “It wasn’t a personal attack on him. Not many people will say he is not a good guy,” she said. She explained that many people, even in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are fans of Mr Mahama but it was his governance style that attracted criticism.
She said considering the state of the country handed over to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), more could have been done. “The opportunity they had in 2009, I believe he could have done more as a president,” she said.
