Director Shankar's dream project 2.0 gave Akshay Kumar some strong connections in Kollywood. And it looks like the actor is all set to capitalise on it. Speculations were rife that Akshay Kumar has been chosen to play the lead role in the remake of Raghava Lawrence's hit flick, Kanchana.
It looks like the rumours are indeed true. A source close to Raghava Lawrence told an English daily that Akshay Kumar will reprise Lawrence's role in the Hindi remake of Kanchana. Lawrence, who directed the original will be helming the Hindi version as well.
A source confirmed the news to an English daily and said, "Though many in Bollywood had expressed interest in this remake, things have been finalised now. Lawrence will only direct the film, and not act in it. The rest of the cast, including that of the one who'd play Sarath Kumar's role of a transgender, is yet to be finalised. Shooting will begin in Mumbai from April."
Kanchana is a horror comedy featuring Lawrence, Sarath Kumar and Raai Laxmi in the lead roles. The film is about a fearful guy who gets haunted by a ghost when he goes to play cricket in an empty ground. Soon, the possessed spirit is out to take revenge on those who wronged her.
