Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James spoke out about the situation involving Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey and China. His comments drew up a firestorm on social media, with fans everywhere chiming in and calling him out.

James then explained and clarified his statement in a couple of tweets.

Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter, who has been dealing with his own international issues with his home country of Turkey, took to Twitter to essentially subtweet James and respond to the Lakers forward.

Enes Kanter is certainly not a stranger to the world of politics. The Celtics big man is a staunch critic of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, tagging his leadership as a dictatorial regime.

For practicing his right to freedom of expression, Kanter and his family have suffered under the hands of the Erdogan presidency. As Enes detailed in a recent tweet, he hasn’t seen or talked to his family for five years. He also gets death threats every day and has an international arrest warrant, among others, as was clear in his following tweet,

-Haven’t seen or talked to my family 5 years
-Jailed my dad
-My siblings can’t find jobs
-Revoked my passport
-International arrest warrant
-My family can’t leave the country
-Got Death Threats everyday
-Got attacked, harassed
-Tried to kidnap me in Indonesia

LeBron James said that Morey was “misinformed” and “not educated” when he sent out a tweet supporting the pro-Hong Kong protestors. The Lakers star has since clarified that he is pertaining to the “ramifications” of making a controversial statement rather than the substance.
