Warner Bros. Pictures is set to take legal action against a video posted on Twitter by President Donald Trump as part of his 2020 reelection campaign.
The 2-minute video, which has been viewed over 2 million times on Twitter and retweeted over 27,000 times, uses parts of the score from Warner's 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises. The ominous video also featured some of Trump’s enemies, at least some of those stars he has publicly feuded with in the past including Rosie O’Donnell, Bryan Cranston, Amy Schumer, Hillary Clinton, John Dickerson and Bill Clinton.
Cranston tweeted his acknowledgment in making the president's enemy list, writing: "Hell yes! I finally became a villain in the bizzaro underworld of the @realDonaldTrump . I can’t say that I understand what I’m doing in it, but I seem to have a high disapproval rating from the President. Hmmm, cool. Hey, do I get residuals from this movie?"
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday night, the company said: "The use of Warner Bros.’ score from The Dark Knight Rises in the campaign video was unauthorized. We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.”
Late on Tuesday night, the video was disabled on Twitter with a note that the action was in "response to a report by the copyright owner."
