(+277...8) Doctor why is my nose👃 bleeding⚕️
Nose bleeding, or Epistaxis as it is technically called, is caused by a variety of conditions. The commonest cause of epistaxis is drying of the mucosa of the nose which can cause the mucosal lining to tear leading to bleeding. Epistaxis is also caused due to excessive picking of the nose and consequent injury to the nasal mucosa. In some cases, epistaxis may be caused due to hypertension, or high blood pressure. These are some of the common causes of epistaxis. While blood flowing from the nose can appear very traumatic, a simple way to stop the bleed is to sit upright, lean forward slightly and pinch the nose for about 10-15 minutes, while breathing through the mouth until the bleeding stops. Following this, an ice pack may be held against the nose. After this first aid, you must consult your doctor in order to find out the specific cause of the nose bleed. Your doctor, after thorough examination, will then be able to tell you specifically why you are having epistaxis and how to treat it.
