A decision on the alleged Model Code violations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, will be taken tomorrow, the Election Commission told the media today.
The Congress had approached the Supreme Court this morning, asking it to direct the commission to speed up the decision on the poll code violations by PM Modi and Amit Shah. The court is expected to hear the case tomorrow.
Asked about the hearing, Chandra Bhushan Kumar, the Deputy Election Commissioner, said, "This meeting to decide on these leaders' violations was fixed earlier. We can't comment on the court hearing tomorrow".
The Prime Minister was accused of violating the Model Code for his references to the Pulwama and Balakot air strikes, which had been banned by the Commission. Sources had said the officials were considering it and would arrive at a decision before the end of the election.
