An information and communications technology (ICT) laboratory being constructed at the Zanlerigu Junior High School (JHS) in the Nabdam District in the Upper East Region has been abandoned for lack of funds.
The project, which was started in 2009 and constructed to window level, has been left to deteriorate with part fallen as a result of the lack of resources to complete it.
It is intended to enhance teaching and learning of ICT as a subject to equip the pupils with the requisite practical knowledge on the subject initiated by the management of the school.
The idea was to ensure that the pupils of the school were not left out of the technological evolution that made the world a “global village” and to make them appreciate the subject.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Headmaster of the school, Mr Hamza Ayinbisah, stated that “the project is good, but it is unfortunate it has been abandoned because of funds, and all attempts to draw the district assembly’s attention to continue work on it has not yielded anything.”
