The Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) here has opened a counter dedicated specially for patients suspected to be suffering from Japanese encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome as per a directive of the state health and family welfare department.
Sources said that one more child detected to be JE positive died in the paediatrics ward of the hospital on Sunday, taking the toll of children who have died of JE to seven since April this year in the hospital. The toll in the district now stands at 10.
The JE and AES help desk is located at the regular OPD and at the Casualty desk of the hospital and will provide round the clock service, said a JMCH official....
