Apart from a ropeway, the State government has also planned to create new tourism infrastructure at Umiam Lake viewpoint which include restaurants and stalls for vendors.
This was stated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday after inspecting the Umiam Lake viewpoint.

This decision has been taken by the Meghalaya government under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma for attracting more tourists to Umiam Lake.
Informing this on his Twitter handle, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma stated: “Inspected the site for creating new tourism infrastructure at Umiam Lake view point, which includes rope way, restaurants and stalls for vendors.”...
