Defence Minister, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, has said that the government has reserved eight farms, mines and a conservancy for tourism for the War Veterans.
The development, as the minister noted, is a way to restore the dignity of the fighters in the liberation war.
"In the old dispensation, we were humiliated treated like we did not matter but we are glad that we came together and restored our legacy. The new dispensation is now there to restore the dignity of war veterans. We want to thank the President for giving us a department that will look into the affairs of the war veterans. At the moment we have 8 farms meant for projects, we were also given mines and we also have a conservancy for tourism."
Her remarks come a few weeks after war veterans had said that they were tired of waiting for empty promises the government made since on the aftermath of independence in 1980.
