Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora maintained a stoic silence over the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), 2016, while speaking at the 4th North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) conclave in Guwahati on Monday.
At least three Chief Ministers of Northeast, however, appealed the central government to tread cautiously on the issue.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma expressed his apprehension about CAB and said that the centre must take the people and governments in the northeastern states into confidence before taking the final decision.
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga also urged the Centre to implement CAB minus northeast.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphu Rio also said that the CAB should not impact northeastern states where demography had already been changed due to infiltration....
