‘Fake’ Soldier Tells 😖Court Police Officers Forced Him to Wear Friend’s 👔Army Uniform

  |   Zimbabwe News

A ZANU PF activist who told prosecutors last week that he had been given an army uniform at the ZANU PF headquarters before going in a robbery spree has changed his statement. He now claims that police officers forced him to wear a friend’s army uniform.

Shepherd Magorimbo told Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa on Monday that police officers who arrested him in the city centre took him to his residence had forced him to wear Fungai Makoni’s army fatigue that was in his room.

Magorimbo pleaded not guilty to two counts of robbery. His lawyer Blessing Mupwanyiwa told the court that the State must have brought the arresting officer to testify if it was opposing bail.

The prosecutor Sebastian Mutizirwa opposed bail for Magorimbo. He told the court that the accused was arrested by members of the public. He further argued that the accused is a flight risk and if released, he would link up with his accomplices, who are still at large. Mgorimbo was remanded to February 25.
