The National Assembly resumes sittings on Tuesday with the process of seeking a replacement for Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet whose four-year term comes to an end in March, being part of the agenda.
According to National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, finding a suitable successor for Boinnet is among a long list of items that the House will give priority.
Before this happens however, the House will consider nominees to serve as members of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).
Once it is re-constituted, the body will call for suitable members to apply for the position of the Inspector General of Police.
The commission will then submit the name of the preferred candidate to President Uhuru Kenyatta who will in turn send it back to Parliament for consideration.
The National Super Alliance will in the meantime seek to replace Vihiga MP Omboko Milemba with Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi in the House Business Committee.
The change affecting the duo who belong to Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress is the only one that has been highlighted in Tuesday’s Order Paper to the team mandated to set the daily agenda for the House when it is in session.
The Jubilee Party will also be seeking to have the term of its nominees Amos Kimunya, Joyce Akai Emanikor, Shadrack John Mose, Kawira Mwangaza extended as the MPs begin the Third Session of the 12th Parliament.
